Default SP 600 reviews / evaluation

How do you SP 600 owners like your machine so far?

Please list any problems and mileage on your machines. I am considering one for the wife after the tax return comes in.

Do you like the in-line shifter better than the 500 HO shift pattern?

Anyone own a 500 HO before owning the 600? How do the two compare?

Does the SP 600 ride heavier (can you feel the additional weight) on the trail/mud?

We have four 500 HOs in the family now and they have been great. I am considering the 600 because the price ($6400) is very close to the 500 HO ($6200) and the steering seems to be much lighter/easier.

My dealer's mechanic said he has not seen any 600 problems. He said the bugs were worked out on the SP 700 before the 600 hit the market.

Any shared information is appreciated.

Had a 500HO for 2months, in them 2 months I had to replace the water pump seals, and do a sifter lingage adjustment, it was all free under warrenty.

I like the park, its nice to have when you are hauling the quad on a trailor, or in the a back of a truck.
I also like the inline shifter, because if I ever need to do a shifter linkage adjustment you only have to adjust one rod verses 2.

You really don't real the wieght that much more, you can tell that more of it on the 600 is up front were on the 500 its in the back.

The only problems I have had is a noise from the exhaust guard, I had to tighten the bolts, and a leak on the brake reserve, I had to tighen the torx head screws on the brake reserve.

It has been a good trouble free quad, I have put a little over 400 miles and almost 50 hours, no problems yet.

On thing I don't like is the place of the oil filter, on the 600 vs the 500 but that is verry very minor.

Thanks. Good information. Have you ridden at Blue Lake Adventures by the Lake Livingston Dam? Good trails!

I have 800 miles on my 600 with no problems. I had a 500 HO which i put 4000 trouble free miles on. I never replaced anything on it. The 600 has a lot more torque, steers much easier and the extra 40 lbs. are not noticeable. Also like the big battery on it. I expect to put in excess of 4000 miles on it in the next 2 years just like the HO.

I just got mine a few weeks ago and really like the 600. The only gripe is that the shifter is not very smooth when shifting, but it is better when I rock the ATV and shift. Other than that I am still in the process of trying to determine the set-up for the type of riding I will do. This is my first ATV, but the 600 seems to be very powerful. Also, I put the multi bracket on the rear that supports the gas can/cooler rack that I ordered from Polaris, it is a very well built unit. Regards, Mark

My suggestion! Stay as far away from the SP 500 as possible! Their is no comparison to the two bikes. I had nothing but problems w/mine, and my buddy has/had the same problems. I traded it back in after 2 months on a SP 600. All I can say about the SP 600 is WOW! What a difference! It turns alot better on the paythment and on the trails. The belt air intake hose on the side of the SP 500 opens up near ur feet. The problem w/this is, when ever u go through high water, water gets sucked in! On the SP 600 they made that correction. It now pulls the air from the top of the bike. This make it alot more reliable for guys that accualy ride their bikes through some heavy stuff. Another plus is that they have in corporated a drain plug at the bottom of the belt housing. In the event u get water in the housing, u do not have to drom all 20 million screws just to get the cover off to get the water out. That was a major pain on the trails. Another plus is they have incorporated a spot on front of the SP 600 to mount ur winch. It allows easier access to the winch when ur tring to get to the free spool handle, and it keeps it higher out of the water. The list goes on, but to rap it up, I have had both, and I would not tell anyone to buy a SP 500 over the SP 600. Hope this helps...

Good info, so what you're telling me is that even if the sp500 is 6-7 hundred dollars less that i should get the sp600? I think i will.

After blowing 4 different belts, and after driving both atv's. Yes! It is the best 6-7 hundred u spent extra. You will really like the performance difference between the two. If u get a chance, go by the dealer, and look over the SP 500 and the SP 600. You will be able to see the belt air intake difference, and the the drain plug they added. U will also notice that the SP 600 has a different style gear shifter. This has been another great improvement, because it is alot easier to go inbetween the low/high/reverse gears. If you can talk the dealer into it, c if they will let u test drive the 2 bikes. Think that will help u out the most.

Thanks again....
