predator front shocks question
I'm not sure if this has been posted or not, maybe it has, but what is the "clank" noise I hear when I lift up the front of the quad, taking off all the load from the front shocks and a-arms?
It's sounds like the shocks are fully extended and not designed to do so, like they're streched out as far as possible, and there is some metal to metal noise I hear...
Let me know if I'm the only one?
Thx

vil: I mean, the only thing else it could be is maybe the a-arms....but I'm thinking the shocks though... I've just never heard a quad do that.... it's strange....then again I'm used to showa suspension, not Fox stuff.....
glad I wasn't the only one so far....

If you jack the front of your pred up so the wheels are off the ground and turn the top of the shock adjuster way up you can actaully turn it up so far that there is no tension on the spring at all. You can then move the spring up and down with your hand and it makes a clank sound when you hit the top or the bottom. Same thing with the rear shock when you do the same with it.
The clank sound you guys hear is in mine also and it is the front springs pick it up with one hand and put your other hand on one of the springs.
You can't hear it while riding. The chain makes to much noise on the slider to here it at low rev's *lmao*

I heard that too, while I had my front end off the ground to adjust the suspension. If you grab the very top of the shock, with the bike off the ground, and twist back and forth, you will hear that same clunking noise. The upper bushings are very hard, and the shock doesn't fit in there as snug as some of the other bikes I've ridden. There is a little play in there, and that is the clunking you hear, at least that's what I hear on my bike. Doesn't seem to be a problem, and seems tight enough.
