I installed both the clutch kit and the megaphone muffler from aaen on my 700. I got more of a performance gain from the clutch kit than anything else. It's hard to tell if the muffler did that much more for it. If it did, it was minimal. AAEN recommends using the clutch kit and the muffler in conjunction with each other. If you buy the muffler, get the spark arrestor with it. I thought it was way too loud without the spark arrestor. I run the 165 main jet, year round, in my 700. I've had every jet from the 155 to the 167.5 in mine and the 165 seemed to give the best performance and the best color to the plugs. I run the K & N air filter in the hotter months and switch back to the stock air filter in the winter months.

thanks for the info i will do this. was there much improvement over stock? what did your carb come with 155 main jett? and what is your elevation were you live, im below 2000 feet can you give me carb settings ie needle clip position/ mixture scew setting/ and pilot jett or did you leave them stock?

I run the aaen muffler and the clutch kit but i use the polaris yellow spring as it engages a little lower than the aaen green spring. there is a noticeable increase in power over the stock muffler. I tried them back to back with the clutch kit installed and it is stronger across the entire rpm range. The only thing about the aaen pipe is the noise.

SP700
I'm not sure of your question ( was their much improvement over stock). If you mean, with the 165 jet, yes it seemed to run a lot better. Yes, my 700 came with a 155 jet from the factory. The only other thing that I changed was the pilot screw adjustment ( on the bottom of the carb ). Mine was about 1 turns out and I changed it to 1 1/2 turns out. The service manual calls for 1 1/2 turns out. I'm not sure what our elevation is here in ohio, but I'm sure it is under 2000 ft. Like I said , the clutch kit made a big difference but unlike 1fsast700, I didn't notice that much of a gain with the muffler but I could be wrong. It is hard to tell unless you are actually timeing your runs. I would use the muffler with the clutch kit or you won't be happy till you do. Make sure you order it with the spark arrestor, much too loud without it. Now for your big question: I raced a grizz 660 with my 700 and I believe that I had not made changes to the carb yet, I jumped the grizz by a bike to bike and a half off the line, than he drew even with me and was mabey a half bike ahead of me for mabey 5 seconds or so and than I pulled away from him again. We were probably running around 50 mph when the drag ended due to a bad curve in the road (hard road). I weigh around 230 lbs. and the grizz rider weighed mabey 170 lbs. so he had a definate weight advantage. I wouldn't worry too much about your buddy's and their grizzleys. Keep an eye on your spark plug color, mine ran way too rich from the factory and would foul out the plugs in about 200 miles or so.
