Default $5,400 otd for predator good?

I just picked up my Predator from a dealer in Northern California yesterday. They charged me full boat, 5999.00 plus frieght, set-up, and tax and licence, 7200 OTD
Because I paid full boat, I didn't put out the 400 on the extended warr. which because it's a first year model, I would have, but then again, I never leave nothing stock, so it may have been a waste of money, whats everyone's oppion on the extended warr.? And because my Predator cost me more then anyone else's here, does that mean mine's fastest?? LOL, just foolin! Take care, Rich

It's just outside of Eveleth. If you go to the ATVAM, or DNR websites, you should be able to find some info. They DQ'd me out of there before I quieted down the race mod. Nice people working there though.

That's an awesome price if it includes sales tax.

I finally got to see one of these in person today at the dealership and I am pretty impressed. It looks like it can take some abuse and the pro steering is pretty wild. The pictures of this thing do it no justice.

I asked what he was selling it for and he said the msrp was $5499 which surprised me (I was thinking $5999). I paid more for my 400 ex and it doesn't have the performance of the predator. I would love to ride one sometime. I think if I go back and express interest he will let me take it for a rip. The only problem is it may find it's way onto my truck. I live in SE Minnesota and when I bought my Sportsmans I didn't have to pay sales tax. You see, I purchased my quads from a dealer just across the Mississippi in La Crosse, WI...he told me that I would have to pay the sales tax when I registered it in MN. When I went to the DMV in La Crescent, MN the lady there said I didn't have to pay sales tax on ATVs in MN. Happened twice...two years apart. I don't think albaBANSHE will have to pay tax on his quad either. Maybe it's different if you buy it from an in-state dealer, but I don't think so.

Good, I was hoping someone would ask that question so I would have a chance to prove that it happened. The lady at the DMV (her name is jane) said I didn't need to pay sales tax on an ATV. I was completely shocked the first time it happened and I just nodded and paid my $21 an' got the hell outta there before she realized her mistake. The second time, I went in in disbelief of the first and a little hopeful it would happen again...It did, and she said the same thing -no tax for ATVs. Now I expect it as far out as it may sound. If you don't believe me, call the La Crescent, MN DMV at 507-895-4627 tell her you just bought and ATV for 'X' amount of dolars and was wondering how much the sales tax would be. The answer will be $0.

Yes I bought them in WI both were new current year models, an '01 SP400 and an '03 SP700. How? I don't f#%ing know! Sounds as weird to me as it does to you. Completely blew me out of the water the first time it happened. I know it does not apply in WI because the dealer told me he would charge the sales tax right at his dealership if I was registering it in WI, but since the quads were to be registered in MN he said I would have to pay the tax for MN. When I went to pay it I found that I didn't have to.

Maybe the dealer messed up by not having me pay the tax right away...Maybe the DMV lady has her head up her butt...Either way I have found a loophole(sp) that is helping me out.

Again, if you don't believe me, call the La Crescent DMV. Tell her you bought an ATV in La Crosse (pronounced 'la cross') for say $5600 (my first atv price) and was wondering how much the sales tax would be when you came in to register it. You'll know it's the lady I'm talking about when she first picks up the phone...She is very cop-like and official sounding with a stern voice (almost sounds like she is not happy to be there), but she is very helpful and will answer your questions. Again her name is Jane and I believe her last name is Paulson. Don't call b/w 1 and 2pm CST that's when she takes her lunch(found that out when I went to get new stickers for the plates on my car).

If you buy an ATV in Minnesota, you will be charged sales tax by the dealer. He may hide it and tell you you're not paying it. One way or the other, the dealer has to send in sales tax on it. Unless they are completely dishonest and don't have the ATV on their books.

ATV registration in Minnesota is with the DNR. It's not like getting plates on a car or truck.
