Default scrambler 500 front poping??

i have a 2000 scrambler 500 4x4 and it just started poping i happens when im in 2x4 and spinning the tires pretty fast on the ice and if feels like the front left hub kicks in but the 4x4 switch is off????

i have no clue what is going on it doesn't do it when it is in 4x4 so i think something in the hub is messed up
i am going to check and change the hub fluid when i can get the screws out. ill try tonight

thanks

my scrammy was making a popping sound on the left side in 2wd as well. I could hear it more on bumps. When i got home i found that my right cv boot was torn. I bought 2 new boot kits. I replace the right one and inspected the cv joint as well. It was good. When I to the left boot (which was not torn) the cv joint was frozen. It would not move. I had to replace the whole thing. Costs around $175. I could be wrong. But I thought (or hoped) that it was just my hub fluid that needed to be changed. It was making that popping sound. It sound like to me that you have a bad cv joint. Works like a charm now

Default scrambler 500 front poping??

ok i think i figured it out i posted earlier about the rolled pin that fell out well then new one i got fell out too it doesn't fall out it just slids out almost all the way and i think the poping was when it came around it would hit the gear box everyonce in a while it only did it a few times that i heard so i think it had to be just right to hit
but i did take a pretty good chunk out of the gear box. not all the way through but a pretty good groove in it.

for now i have a nut, bolt and lock washer on it and i rode it all day today and its holding up good for now so ill just leave it.
thanks guys
