What front and rear sprockets are you running on your 400 sport. I have heard going as high as 28 and 13 but that sounds like in the wrong direction going higher on the gearing for the fastest times. What are most of you running out there?

If I run farther than 300ft, I run a 15-34 gear. For running 300ft drags, I run a 14-34 gear. A variable transmission has the best efficiency when operating at about a 1 to 1 ratio. When running a modded machine, you want to run as much gear as possible until you start losing acceleration. Even with a 15-34 gear, I am fully shifted out and run out of gear at about 800ft. Bubba

bubba, what do you think about dragging 400 feet in the sand dunes uphill? Taking the paddle tires and going uphill into consideration which will be robbing your power, I guess I will have to break down and buy a couple of sprockets and time it but I would like to know what other peoiple have tried before spending the money, I should have mentioned first that I usually run comp hill at dumont and glamis.

Two of the best drag mods you could change with your current gear, would be to get race porting and step up that compression. With those additions, you could/should also consider girdling the cylinder. These wouldn't really run you all that much money, but the performance gains, especially up a hill will really increase your grin factor.

forgot to put in profile, already have girdle kit, and want to keep the reliability of the trail portJust looking to get what I can out of gears and clutch kit now. Ran stock 55 weights with ritters red spring and that helped till I decided to turn around and come back down and it won't hardly engage at all compared tyo the 58 weights so when I ride the dunes it is kinda weird not to have any engin braking at all not that it has much do start with.
