New Pred, strange noise - is it normal?
#1
I bought a new pred early this week and am just about through the breakin period. From the very first time I rode it, I noticed what seemed to be a whining sound coming from the engine area. It sounds like large gears without oil maybe?!? I think the noise has decreased over the 3 hours that I have put on the machine, however it is still noticeable.
I checked the oil and it was ok, maybe even a little over the max line. My question is this, has anyone else experienced this sound and if so is it normal or should there be something done?
On a positive note, I love this quad! It's super fast, the suspension is exceptional, and it handles great.

Robeir, The only strange noise I have heard on my Predator is the chain rattling when your not goin fast enough. Otherwise I have not heard anything like you have described. Keep enjoyin your new machine!!!!!

I'm sure what you are hearing the the chain rolling over the roller, very noisy at first, but I have about 5-6 hours on mine, and the noise is either going away, or I'm just getting used to it! Nothing to worry about from what I'm told, just keep the correct tention on the chain, and keep it oiled or waxed, which ever you prefer.

I was told the chains come with wax on them from the factory and that they need to be cleaned off and reoiled. I oiled mine up real good but don't remember if it quieted the noise down since I was having too much fun finally getting a chance to ride it!!
