Default REV LIMITER

Bubba, Talonhawk or Modquad

Can you bipass, or change the rev (rpm) limiter on the Trailblaser or 400 scrammy? Somewhere down the line when doing all the mods I lost about 300 rpm,s and cant figure it out. I am only getting about 6300 rpm,s when I should be around 6600. What can I look for?

I don't think thats where your problem is because the Speed Limiter
on the Trailblazer is controlled by the (ETC) or Electronic Throttle
Control. It only kills the engine in the event of a throttle malfunction.
My service manual lists only two possible types of limiters for a
99-00 TB. They are (LR49-1 or a LR83-1) if you have something different
then you could have a problem. Sounds like it could be a timing problem
to me.

2manytoys, when I ported your cylinder i had told you to go ahead and jet up some. Have you been able to take a plug reading yet? Too rich would rob power on the top end. Can you remember at all when you lost the rpm's? Has your tach received any moisture in the last little while? Bubba

Well I cant really say that I lost rpm,s. It just never got the rpm,s advertised with the kit. I have checked rpm,s over and over and it is a consistant 6300. Could it be in the clutching? I know i should be around 6600 and that 300 rpm,s is alot of top end that I dont have. Also I have a real bad off idle lagg that i did not have before the pipe installation. Before the pipe I was able to correct the lagg, but when I installed the pipe the lagg came back worse than the stock lagg. All this makes me believe that it is in the clutching. Once I get going the bottom end is real strong. I can cruse 1/8 - 1/4 throttle, hit it wide open and bring the front wheels up. I want to take care of the lagg and get my rpm,s up where they are supposed to be. I have not been able to ride and get a good plug reading because it has been way to freakin cold here. I did buy 2 more jets just incase I need them.

2manytoys,

How did you "correct the lag" before?

I would change the primary spring before changing weights. With the ported motor you dont want to drop the load put on the motor. You'll end up losing acceleration like that. There are so many springs from so many different companies he can get one with near same engagement and just increase full shift pressure some. Kurt, let me know which primary spring and weights they set you up with. Having a little lag on the bottom tells me you could probably use some more engagement as well. Bubba

I cant remember what spring I have for the primary. I think its a green, but I have 58gram weights and then went down to 55 gram. When I didnt have the lag is when I just changed the primary spring to a EPI red spring. EPI red is like the Polaris white. But when I installed the pipe and clutch kit thats when the lag came back. The motor wont rev right away once I hit the throttle. I can hit the throttle and it will take a second or 2 before the engine revs. Its not like the engine revs and then te clutch engages. The engine wont rev right off idle.

2manytoys,

I don't feel you have enough spring either. If you still have the 55g weights in, try a yellow or brown spring(each are Polaris springs). I just set up a clutch on a Trailblazer last week that had a similar set-up as you. It ended with the brown and 55g weights. I didn't have a yellow to try though. Also, the weights were customed a little so they are a little lighter.

I am a little confused though because in your signature, it says you have the "HPD agressive clutch kit". The HPD agressive clutch kit should be a red/yellow spring with the 58g weights. If that is the color, stick with the 55g weights. If this is what your running, my mind starts to wonder on to other areas. Like carb or motor.
