Predator Seat/Airbox Problem
#1
Hello everyone...Been reading the forums for a while and found a problem this weekend I thought I would post about. The tool kit hook under the seat on my Predator is wearing hole in the airbox lid. I became aware of it when I talked to another guy on a new Pred, and his actually had worn completely through. Mine is not through yet and I will be cutting the plastic tool kit hook off. I only weigh about 155 and have about 8 hours on the bike. Anybody else notice this yet? I'm thinking Polaris is gonna have to warranty this, possibly recall.

Hi 2Min,
My predator has about 10 hours of use, and I'm noticing the exact same situation as you regarding the airbox-to-seat contact. I'm 5-11 and weigh 200 lbs. I think I'm going to grind off the hook as well.
I also have a small lateral wear spot toward the front of the airbox cover, about 3" ahead of the tool kit hook, which is caused by downward pressure from the rear-most underseat cross rib. This one is not as bad as the tool kit hook, but it will also be a problem soon, with just the moderate riding I do.
I feel it is definately something Polaris needs to deal with.

Dag-nab-it..........
Under My Seat, the tool bag front bungie hook, rubbed and worn half way through the air box lid, maybe 60-70 thou deep, and plastic might be .100 - .125 thick..........all after 6 weeks ownership, I'm 230 pounds, too many grinning miles to count, maybe a 100-150 miles all told..........
Yup, Polaris will have to deal with this...as I'm sure they will. Give 'em a chance before everyone jumps on a big polaris bashing and cries recall.........Everyone keep an eye on it, or do my carb mount clamp-on K&N airfilter that I show in my picture gallery.
I'm still running the stock snorkle in the wet Seattle winter months, so I'll need to get another air-box lid from my dealer as a replacement "spare".......claim it on warrenty guys.........thats why we buy 'em new in the first place!
