700 SP Stick Stoppers
#2
I bought the cv boot protectors that Polaris offers. They are the same ones that fit the sp500. They are not the most fashionable ones around but they do the job and come in several different colors. I learned my lesson after a ruined weekend of rideing. I believe they were $49.99 for the front and $49.99 for the rear. A $100.00 bill total, plus uncle sam. Their in the Polaris calalog, if you have one.

I just purchased a pair of the savant Stick Stoppers for my 700. Haven't put them on yet, but they are made of steel and look to be very strong. Cost $45 from atvoutfitters. You will need the SS124 for the front, but their site doesn't list the 700 under that number. I found the application from another site and even verified with atvoutfitters via email and they confirmed promptly. They have rear ones from stick stoppers too. The first link is where I bought them and the second link is the manufacturer's site.

I went ahead and ordered the ones from Polaris for the rear of my 700, haven't decided about the front yet. I am also concerned about extra radiator protection, that little grill looks flimsy to me, I can see a big stick poking through it. I am thinking about a small skid plate attached to the lower portion of the brushguard.

How come you did not order the stick stoppers for the rear? are the ones from Polaris better they are plastic and the stick stoppers are metal correct and cheeper?

I have a pair of those rear plastic polaris guards laying in the garage that I had on my HO. I ended up taking them off b/c my experience was that they trapped mud and debris when going through mudholes and such. A couple of times, I found small rocks trapped in there and I was afraid that one would get between the guard and the cv boot. I plan to do some modification to them and see if I will like them on the 700.

As pest44 says, they are mud collectors and they tend to make it a little harder to get to a couple grease fittings. I put a glove on and reach in there and pull all the crud out on occasion and than I use the garden hose to wash out what's left. Use the glove. I was doing something similar a while back and ran a splinter of wood in my finger, down to the bone. When my finger came close to being about the size of my wrist, I went to the doctor. After one operation and two different staph infections later, I learned not to shove my fingers in dark and strange places. Hmmm! Well, have to go, going to the dog track for a couple days to see if I can win enough $ for some more toys.

Those protectors are pretty stout. They look to be about 1/8 to 1/4 inchs thick.
