SP400 Stuck In REverse-PLEASE HELP!
#1
My 2003 SP400 has 74 miles on it and is now stuck in reverse. My Father-In-Law got stuck 1 mile out in 1 foot of snow and had to drive back in reverse. Anyone have any ideas? My local dealer is closed on Sunday, and I'd like to try and get it rolling forward. Any mechanics out there with a quick fix or what to look at? Thanks.

At the bottom of the shifting leever check the rod that goes to the gearcase they can be ajusted sounds like it is binding check the ball swivels on the rod for binding.
Not to sure if that is the problem but it is a quick and easy check

After I posted my topic, I typed "Stuck" in the search bar and got several posts of the same thing. Went out to the garage this a.m. and had it fixed within an hour. Does anyone have any helpful hints for removing the side panel to get to the shift linkage? It was quite a pain in the a$$. Could've been the 10 degree temp, I don't know.

breezer to remove the sidepanel first remove the seat then start at the back part by pushing upwards kinda, there are 2 tabs that hold it on the back and 3 or 4 for the rest of it. anyways I always use both hands to grab the panel in the back to get the back 2 out then there is some freeplay in the panel when you get the back 2 tabs out. Then I grab from underneath of it and pull it upward till the bottom tab comes out then twist it down again to remove it completely!! Hope it helps, sounds confusing but it is simple once you have done it. Dont get frustrated if it doesn't come off easy because if you start yankin on it you will break the plastic tabs that hold it in place!!! The sidepanel on the shifter side was a little harder to remove on my sportsman FYI.
