Rob, I dont think it will matter, the airbox is going to limit airflow to the engine. I would just keep a check on my spark plug.

Which brings up another question.....Is there another way to get to the spark plug other than remove both side panels and lift the tank up?

What a pain!

I just remove the right side panel, and leave everything hooked up to the tank, then swing it over and remove the plug. When tuning I leave the front panel off, put in a new plug and use the throttle chop method. You might try removing all the disc and put the little restrictor plate(the one with the pipe in it) by itself. It gives good back pressure and sounds real good. kind of loud though.

OK. I think 8 discs are correct. If you run the 8 discs & a K&N, raising the needle by one clip is fine. I am adding 4 more discs & six 1" air inserts to the airbox. This requires upping the main to a 152.5.

When my Trinity head pipes and silencer come in, I will run a 155 main. This added 5-10 hp across the dyno sheet.

Please keep in mind, In Oklahoma, we are only a few hundred feet above sea level.

with the time that's passed since this thread was started I was curious to see if this info is still accurate. Is 5 or 6 discs better than 9? Or is 12 the way to go?

I had 18 dics on mine, then done away with the dics, I have now got the turn down tip. The less of dics the more low end, the more dicsmore top end.

I have zero boys........its the way to go!!! I don't have any trouble with back pressure or with my pred not running right. It runs perfect and the plug is a light tan color every time. I also have both Nicholas Cycle carb mods though.........

I am in OKlahoma, run 12 disks with no spark arrestor. I have a 195 main/50 pilot and a k & n clamp on. I tried the "no disk" theory but never got it to run for crap. I have tried all diff numbers of disks and with the set up I have now it pulls hard, sounds good and is fairly fast!

So for big bottom end, do you go with the discs or a Nicolas or Rath turn down tip?
