Hi I read somewhere that fuel stabilizer should be added to your gas during cold weather. Is this something you do before storing your bike for the winter or do you put it in your tank every time you fill up?

Fuel stabilizer wil help the fuel maintain its octane after sitting for a extended amount of time. These new fuels that are on the market have lost all the good old perservatives (LEAD) and will lose about 10 points of octane in 4 months (I think, I can't quite remember from my boating days). When you store it for a long time fil it up all the way and add stabilizer.

I always use Sta-bil when I'm going to store something for over a month. Gas will turn to varnish in your carb if it sits in there, leading to trouble. In the fall, I fill up all of my gas powered tools (weed eater, generators, lawn mower, chainsaws, etc...)

Fill them up, and then let them run for about five minutes to let the additive work through the lines and carb. One ounce treats like five gallons.

A Buddy of mine works for a GM dealership, GM says fuel is so bad right now that stabilizer should be added to every tank of fuel in Cars right now, The reason is fuel is stored up to 90 days before shipped to station. Fuel has shelf life of 30 days before octane #'s drop fast. 91 octane becomes 84 octane in 90 days.
I noticed a power problem in my quads. I ride everyday, I'm retired, therefore I ride because I can. After I heard this info about fuel I started putting sta-bil in all of my Quads, Cars, Trucks. After the first week my power came back first in the 650 Prairie, then the others.
So Sta-bil in mower, boat, generator, quads, every fuel tank I have around. Cost money, Yes, But its only Money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Now all my engines Hum the tune once again!!!---------THE END !
