700 Brush Guard / Winch mounting
#1
I have a SP700 that I am putting the Polaris brush guard on. I am also mounting a winch on the ATV. It appears that the winch mounts in the center of the factory bumper. Has anyone else mounted a winch in this location? What steps are needed to do this? I have all the necessary equipment on order from my dealer and would like a heads up on how it all fits.

I don't know about the brushguard, but I put the Polaris winch mount and Warn 2000 on myself. It was kind of involved, but I still did it in less time than the dealer said it takes. Maybe they don't use air ratchets. From what I recall, you have to take the front rack off, then the plastic hood, but you can leave the rest of the front plastic on. Undo some bolts on the front of the frame, slip the mount in and put the bolts back. The bolts were a little tough to get at, but not impossible. Then bolt the winch in and run the wires. I mounted my switch right to the front rack rather than drill through the plastic, but I have to reach for it and it sucks for plowing. I'm going to change to a handlebar mounted switch. The mount came with very good instructions, so I wouldn't hesitate to attempt it yourself. It wasn't as easy as I expected, but it certainly wasn't really difficult. Good luck.
Oh, and I would definitely wait until you have everything, and read all instructions first, before you do something that ends up in the way of the next step. For example, I don't know if the winch goes on first or the brushguard. Probably the winch, but it's best to be sure before you create extra work for yourself.
