The oil vent line goes to the airbox and has a slit in it from the factory. Is that the one you are talking about? A broken oil line would cause oil to go everywhere. I replaced my vent line with a new fuel hose to get rid of that slit. My machine is often in water and I know some can get in there.

I noticed that they were rubbing as soon as I got my Atv I had never posted because I thought it was an isolated event apparently not , I used eletrical ties to seperate all my lines that were one on top of another works good it has been like that since new and still goin strong.

My old '01 500 4x4 did the same thing. I replaced the hose with some 1/4" push-on fuel line. I get it for free from work but it probably only costs about $3 to buy. Apparently this isn't an isolated problem like I thought it was.
