Zooropa, I also have a 325 and am happy to have the weight for farm chors and will some times add more weight. Mine gets used for pullen and pushen more than trail riding. I guess it all depends on what your main use will be. I am sure a lighter more nimble machine with the 325 would be better for some riding styles. Sounds like Polaris needs a 325 4X4 trailboss if there were such a thing. Maybe Polaris will listen.

There is an opportunity cost ( something that is sacrificed to gain something else ). Most Polari are loaded to the teeth with options that you don't see on lighter weight quads. Things like Liguid cooled, back up recoil start, 4wd, brake lights, extra sensors, ect... All these items add up in weight. The real culprit has to be the chassis. To keep the price down Polaris probably used Tungston ( he..he ), Lead and other heavy metals to make the frame.

Does anyone know how much the frame weighs ? Is it made of steel ? If not how much difference in price would an identical frame cost made of Chromoly or something else ?

Other areas of improvement could be the reduction of useless clips and brakets or the replacement of these components with plastic units.

Bottom line is a diet is imperative !

How does Suzuki make the lightest 500 utility bike and still use a water cooled motor and from what I seen around here has the lowest price.

The advertised SP weight does not include fluids. So add 4+ gals of gas, about 1 qt or so of coolant, 2 qts of engine oil and 2 qts of transmission oil and you have a quad that weighs considerably more than the advertised weight.

I think that they should lighten up the sport atv's. Espescially the TBlazer's. If they could make them as light as Blasters then they would really rip!

The 'blazer could never be as light as a Blaster. Just look at the physical size of the two. The 'blazer is allot larger. They would have to cut down the 'blazer's size so much, it wouldn't be a good all-day/second/comfortable quad that it is now.
