How to eliminate Rev Limiter on Predator?
#1
I have a WB slip on silencer on my stock Predator and ride at sea level.
I have been experiencing the infamous "popping" at top end when I accelerate hard.
I increased my main jet to 160 and the popping is still there.
I am wondering if the noise is simply the Rev Limiter kicking in (even though it sounds more like back-firing than anything else). Can anyone advise how to bypass the Rev Limiter so I can ensure that is not the cause of the popping?
Also, do you think I should try even a larger main jet since it sounds like a lean condition?
On an interesting note, the popping rarely occurs when the ATV is first warmed up and ridden. It doesn't occur until it reaches nromal operating temperature. What gives?
HELP!!!

I had the same problem with mine. I bought Gary's Airforce Kit and man it made a world of difference. I purchased the DynJet kit and opted not to install it. I spoke to gary and he explained what the Dynojet kit does and what his kit does. In a nutshell the with the Dynojet kit the bike will still run lean and rich in places. With Gary's kit all of that is taken care of. Give Gary a call and talk to him, he will explain it to you. If you want max. performance get the airforce kit, You Will NOT be dissappointed.

im saying that with the pipe and jet you are accelerating faster
than when the quad was stock
you are hitting the rev limmit because the quad is faster..............
since the quad is reving faster you have to shift faster.........
and NOT let it hit the limmit
you are staying in gear to long......

G'day Rob
Mate, I'm sorry for the hassles your having. I see by all your posts that you have gone full circle.
Your now looking @ the symptons & not the cause. It is NOT the rev limiter. Put a tacho on it, or your original pipe, & either one will prove it. I'ts time to make a choice.
1. get Garys kit.
2. give the problem to your dealer who have to fix it.
They are fixing mine with a kit. In the mean time, I'm having a ball on a stock bike.
Good luck.
Thanks from down under, Geoff.

I cannot recall what size the pilot is but I know the main jet size is a secret that gary doesn't want to get out. You know what happens then. Everyone is doing it. I live at sea level and believe me you won't be dissappionted in the performance. The install was a piece of cake.
