heres one for all of you who own a sportsman. a have a friend who owns a sportsman 500 and had lend it to his girlfriend. well it turns out that she kept on switching to 4wd while the bike was in motion. and from what he tells me, the bike will not run anymore. has anyone come across this, what would be your guesses on how much it's gonna take to fix and can it be fixed without taking it in. thanks in advance

If you mean run as in the engine won't run or work - then I am not sure there is any relation bewteen using 4wd and the engine not working. But, if you mean the 4wd quit working because she kept turning on the 4wd while the rear tires were spinning, then she has probably ruined both front hubs (or any other part of the drivetrain). If this is the case, then only a tear down and inspection will tell what is wrong.

Switching to 4x4 while moving won't hurt it. Only if the tires were spinning will it cause problems. Does the motor run?
