Default Resale Value

Hi I Just wanted to share my story of what happened at a local dealer today. I saw that they had a 200 325 trail boss for sale at $3400 Canadian dollars. I asked how much it was and was told that it had sold for $3000. to a member of there staff. Just for kicks I asked how much they would give me for a trade in on one of there 2000 Kawi 300 prairie,s for my 2003 330 trail boss (still 3 month left on warranty). After going to see his boss for ten minutes he says he would give me $2300 ($1500 U.S.) for my quad! That is $700 less then he just sold a 2000 to one of his own staff.. I did not really want to trade in but was curious to see what these guys would say......I did learn one thing today I will NEVER buy even a quart of oil from Phils auto in Oromocto New Brunswick. If they are that crooked with this deal then I will never be able to trust them on anything.Thank god my polaris dealer at Hawkins is on the level. There now I feel better after stewing all afternoon.......I know that things depreciate quickly but come on less then his 2000 325 trail boss.

That's how they make their money. They give you used wholesale trade in price, then sell it for retail used price, maybe more depending on the shape of the unit. That's how it goes, whether it is a car, truck, boat, or in your case, an atv. Dealerships don't make a heck of a lot selling new quads, so they have to make the brunt of their cash on trade ins, service (repairs), and selling eqipment (helmets, gloves, and other accessories).
