Default Upgrades, Do they add resale value?

Ive been slowly adding upgrades to my Vinson. I'm now thinking about adding a performance exhaust system. But before I go any further I want to know if upgrading adds anything to the resale value? I'm planning on selling my Vinny, unless I can get the wife to give ATVing a try which is highly unlikely, this fall when the 06 KQ comes out (after Suzuki get's the kinks worked out and offer it in camo). I already know that a dealer will rape me on a trade in, so I'll have to sell it out right. I don't want to sink a bundle into it if I won't get some of it back. So should I continue upgrading? or just ride it as is? Any thoughts or experiences?

Upgrades will generally not net you more money and may actually decrease it's value. I would leave it if you plan on upgrading to a different machine.

If you plan on trading her in , take off all the extra goodies you have put on her and put all the stock stuff back on.... You wont get any more money for extras on a trade in... So your better off selling the extras On the side..
Good luck with it.
What are you looking to buy anyway???

I would say performance upgrades decrease re-sale unless you're selling to an individual. Things such as a winch, a-arm guars, handguards, etc. would increase the value. You would probably (as stated before) get more by selling the pieces seperately. I wouldn't trade any ATV in, unless absolutely necessary. You are going to get gouged at the dealership.

ZigZilla, As I stated in my first post I want to get an 06 King Quad. I love my Vinny and have not had any problems with it. I bought it just before the KQ came out. It was suppose to be an 04 but when doing the paperwork it turned out being the first of the 05's. I like the idea of fuel injection, IRS, and the locker features that the KQ has. I am waiting for the 06 because I'm hoping that Suzuki will get the bugs worked out and make the new King as bullet proof as the old Kings were. They're also supposed to be coming out in Camo in 06. Plus the fact that the latest edition of ATVTV rated it the highest (a 9.75 out of 10) between the Grizzly 660, Rincon 650, Brute Force750, and Sportsman 700 EFI doesn't hurt either.
