If you drop your countershaft (front) sprocket # you will gain more low end acceleration. If my old memory(27 years) is correct ,1 tooth diffrence in the front is like 2-3 in the rear. The diffrence you should see would be in acceleration, but a loss of top end speed 1-2 MPH maybe more could be felt.

401 you are right about the 1 down in front is the same as 2-3 up in back. I went two up in the back with my Scrambler recently. I noticed a huge difference in bottom end, but with all of my mods It was not what I wanted because I had way too much wheel spin on take-off. I changed back to the factory size and I can go about 25 foot now without the major wheel spin I experienced with the bigger sprocket. I think It is something you just have to try If you are willing to spend the money for the bigger sprocket in back. If you aren't satisfied with the results, you can change it. I got a chain a few links too long, long enough for the larger sprocket in the rear, and tried it. Didn't like the results so I went back to factory, cut off a few links and had the same as factory. If you don't get enough results with two in the back, cut the chain down to factory and put 1 tooth smaller in the front. I wouldn't recommend going more than i down in front or you will lose alot of top speed. Just my experience and .02!
