Scrambler 500 chain broke
so your master link snaped into mine did that to when i ramped it. I boughta new chain and sprocket but i learned the hard way it was dark and i didnt no my sproclet was broke so my chain was way to short so i cut 3more links out of it nd thn i found out my sprocket was broke so ibought a new one and then my new chian was to short so there was $50 wasted. I bought another one and i once i put it on i had it really loose so itwouldnt break again but guess you dont have to have them loose and i broke the sprocket because of that $30 wasted. I bought a emgo 12t sprocket then and i havent had a problem yet. I think it helped my lowend alittle because stoc it 13t. I tried using my old chian but the master links were to small that i bought the stock chain is pretty thick i couldnt find one that would fit it so i could put the saftey thing through it the groves wouldnt show. see ya

Wrap the chain around your rear sprocket, holding it tight where it meets. If you can lift the chain off the sprocket opposite where the chain meets more than 1 or 2 mm, it is worn enough, you should get a new one. Get new sprockets when you get a new chain, it will help chain life greatly.
Get the top of the line chain from a brand-name maker. I like DID X-ring chain myself, but there are plenty of others probably just as good. Just go with the highest-strength o-ring style chain you can find. A cheap chain is like a cheap tire. Saves you a few bucks up front, but not worth it in the long run.

Just remember, if you have a 4x4, that when you change the gear rario to the rear wheels (changing sprocket size) you can and will affect the way the 4wd engages. Gear it up too much, and you will have to really spin before the front engages: gear it too low, and the front might not dis-engage properly.
