If you have a liquid cooled polaris ar any make check your radiator cap. At 3.4 miles i thought i blew a belt or something along that line But to my suprise it was leaking antifreeze NOT COOL VERY "disturbed" at that point. No heat light came on so after checking things over i limped home about a mile on gravel about 20 mph, Started digging ,a nd found that the rad cap popped off there was still plenty of coolent in the system so i am not worried about damage to the motor. But what i noticed is that the radiator cap does not fit very tightly so it looks like i will have a new cap asap Check yours out so it does not happen to you. I may put an outomotive style cap on it if i can find the right poundage.

Jaime,

You are scaring me here.

You work for Polaris, you have a problem with your brand new machine with 3.4 miles on it, and you are ignoring warranty repair and seeking to find a solution on your own, and suggesting we do the same???

If you work for Polaris my assumptions are:

1. You, of all people, would know who to talk to at Polaris to get to the bottom of this potential problem.

2. You, of all people, would be interested in making sure this potential problem is worked through by Polaris so that the rest of the Polaris customers benefit.

3. You, of all people, would not be directing us to seek a remedy outside of warranty repair.

Why wouldn't you deal with this problem under Polaris warranty? After all, the machine is mere days, and mere miles old. Please enlighten us.

Deej i am not implying that you diregard your warrenty at all, That is a misconception or a misunderstanding. First thing is that it is just a warning for other riders out there polaris or other brand riders to check you rad cap. And yes polaris is going to find out about this on monday when i get to work, this could have been costly to polaris and to my pocket, IE profit sharing the more warrenty cost the less my profit sharing check is in march that i don,t like!!!!! AS for an automotive style cap the one that i run by preference is stant leverlocks that is my choice of caps . The reason i posted the warning is to make people aware of a situation that could ruin your day, not to disregard warrenty. As it was only the cap was not locked on, a simple mistake that could have been worse if i would not have been paying attention to my ride. And by all means i was not directing you to find a solution out of warrenty and yes i did talk to four different dealers for there opinion on the rad cap. Again i am not telling you or implying to you to fix your ride if it is under warrenty take it in to your dealer as it turned out it was a simple mistake at setup. AGAIN IT WAS JUST A WARNING TO CHECK YOUR CAP A SIMPLE JOB THAT COULD SAVE YOU A BIG HEADACHE.

Hi Jaime,

I have several Polarises. Should I go to automotive style radiator caps? Will this affect my warranty?

For what it's worth.... Between me and my "immediate" hunting/riding buddies we have about 6 Polarises, and none have had problems with the radiators or cap. Except for mine... My radiator has been a lot of trouble the last couple weeks, but it's mostly my fault. If it was of higher quality it might not have been as much trouble, but for the most part, any rad would have messed up.

The point is, those of you who are worrying about having to go out and buy new caps, it's not a normal thing that happens to all Polarises.

I would just check and make sure it is tight and if your not having problems with them don,t fix em. Mine was a simple mistake at setup but could have been worse, And yes polaris does know about the incedent.

All i can say about that is , That i have never needed to trailer mine home , It has always made it home on it,s own power. Did you ever get those brakes working or that annoying gear oil smell taken care of, I know that you got that shifting problem fixed.

What a coincidence!

I just took my cap off yesterday and noticed it was a bit loose also. Then noticed that inner "dirt catcher" resevoir thing (for lack of a better description) had some silt in it, and the vent hole in the outer cap was plugged. Just a reminder to check these when you give your bike that periodic "once over".
