I took delivery of a 2000 400 Scambler 2X4, and the reverse rev limiter ( that the OVERIDE switch overrides ) was defective, the engine makes 100% power in reverse whether the switch is pressed or not. The dealer ordered a replacement rev limiter, along with a replacement cap for the tool compartment.
I went to the dealer to get the rev limiter installed ( under warranty ) and guess what????
THE WRONG PARTS......
Both the rev limiter and the cap were incorrect......
Does Polaris have a problem with poor parts management? Are the parts books accurate? Are they puting the right part numbers on the parts?
Both the parts guy and the mechanic were very helpful, It wasn't their fault.
Is this a common problem?

Relax man this is a crazy world we live in and some times things get messed up. I own a 98-250 TrailBoss and have ordered several parts all wich came in correctly and on time. Your incident is probably an isolated one. Polaris is the only all U.S. built bike left please dont let this isolated incident stray your faith in the last american made. Keep riding man and good luck to you.

I have a 00 335. Two weeks old, first day i rode the tranny was making a noise. The dealer ordered a new one. When I wentto ck to see if they had it in they were working on it they pulled out the old one and went to put in the new one but it was the wrong one. They sent one for a 1998,99 or poss the early 00 model. Mine has the electric connections on the top the one they sent didnt. Any way still waiting, but not to mad my dealer is good to work with and is trying to get it back to me. Cant blame him for the falty tranny.

Hate to burst your American pride j, but the Polaris 2 strokes are made in Japan. If you look at the engine case, you will notice that the engine is manufactured by Fuji.

Hey guys...

It is a bit easier than this. Don't blame the Polaris dealer OR factory. Get a parts manual...you can even download one if you scan the earlier threads here.

Order your correct part number. The guy who spent 30 minutes before the "dealer" got it right...if that was not a joke...then it sure sounded like one.

If you go to your dealer, LOOK AT THE PART in the manual, fiche whatever. Order from the image, not from a description!

All of the parts problems that I have had are dealer oriented. They just plain order the wrong parts. I've had many instances like this. A good dealer will have an "experienced" parts person to handle, but it seems that anymore, the people shuffle in and out so you are usually dealing with rookies who just don't have the training.

That is incorrect. Over the years those "Fuji" engines have been (1) brought over from Japan; (2) been built and a "joint" Polaris-Fuji venture in WI; (3) Been built at a Polaris engine plant using Fuji technology in WI.

Just because it says Fuji, does not necessarily mean made in Japan. That is particularly true for Honda.
