Which Winch?
#4
I have a Warn 2500 w/Polaris mount on my 500HO. Here in Alberta we have bottomless muskeg that swallows quads and won't let go. The 2500 lb winch is adequate for most rescues and a ****** block will double the pulling power for that rare occasion when you go somewhere you knew you shouldn't. I find the ****** block handy for other task too.
As far as brands go, I've had many Warn winches (truck and ATV) with little trouble. Our department at work switched to Ramsey winches for the new trucks to save a few bucks, what a mistake. I wouldn't wish a Ramsey winch on Sadam Hussein.

i have also owned many Warn winches over the years and recommend them to.
the 2000lb on my old SP500 was just barely enough. when pulling in deep snow it would bottom-out....very frustrating!
my Warn 2500ci on my SP700 is great! no problems to date. plus, the mini-rocker switch is fantastic. nice touch!
(the Ramsey winch offers a wireless key-chain remote. seems nice to.)
on my next ATV, if the 3000lb WARN isn't much more in price and weight than the 2500, i'll try one of those!

Get the warn 2500lb winch and then through in a ****** block and two 20 foot long tow straps.
make sure you get the the little toggle switch that goes on your handle bars there great.
I have a 2000lb warn with the old stlye switch on the front rack. In deep snow it takes at least
two 2000lb warns to get a sportsman out Iv'e been there more than once.
Sportsman 500HO 2000lb warn
kodiak 450 2500lb warn

I just got the 2500 warn and I really like it but now I think that I would get the 3000warn because it has a little more power and has that cool remote switch so you can keep an eye on your cable as it comes in. I know you can get this as an acc. on the 2500 but buy that time you could have the 3000. Both are very good winches, you can't go wrong with eather one.
