Default 2003 brakes

Is it possible to hook both brake lines from the rear caliper to the foot brake master cylinder and plug the hole in the junction block and still have good brakes? The way I see it the foot brake would control both pistons instead of the hand brake controlling one and the foot brake the other. I would like feedback from any one who has tried or has any comments. I'm going to play around with it and see what I can come up with.

Ok. I got a service manual and I was wrong about how the brakes work. Both levers use both pistons independently. The pistons are T shaped. The caliper body is ported so that the aux. lever applies pressure to the face of the small diameter of the piston and the hand lever applies pressure to the face of the large diameter. You should be able to remove the line from the junction block and the caliper and plug both ends and have seperate brakes. My original idea of running both lines to the rear master cylinder should theoretically give you more brake power because the fluid would be pushing on a larger surface area. Has anyone had problems with the 03 brakes. The front brakes on both my bikes seem really good. The back brakes could be better.

my rear brake is leaking where the fitting enters the wheel. 400 sportsman 2003 it only has about 30 hours and has not been ridden hard. Should this be covered by the dealer or how much would it be to fix something like that? when i pushed the foot brake i could see fluide comming from the fitting. I don't have a lot of mech. experience - could it be a easy job for a beginner?
thanks

I'd definitely check with the dealer. If it's where the line connects to the caliper it may be a loose or cracked banjo bolt. If you still have warranty left that would be covered. I don't understand why these rear brakes don't work better. With a 2 piston caliper it should be very easy to lock up the rear wheels.
