I would have to say the old Sportsman 400. So it may have a few shains. They are easy to adjust. I hate all of the Composite (Plastic) crap that they are putting on their quads. I also don't like the pod. The Pod reminds me of a big head on the handlebars.
If not the Sportsman 400, I would nominate the Traxter.
I sure would not nominate Arctic Cat. I've learned that the hard way. My AC 400 4x4 is so unstable it flips about once or twice every four rides. My Xplorer is soooo much more stable on steep trails. I don't know why but the back wheels like to come up off the ground and sometimes flip on the AC while going down steep hills. The Xplorer doesn't do this at all. I got to where I was afraid to go down hills on the AC that my Xplorer could easily go down. Even going up loose gravel hills, the AC would sometimes stop going up and sit there spinning- even with 4WD! While the Xplorer just keeps on going.
The Xplorer and the AC both have Titan 489s' also.

I would have to say that the sp500 is the ultimate Quad. I know it has ultimately spent more time at the dealer then any other quad I've owned.

No Atving, other people are having problems with the sp500. You just need to read the posts in the polaris forum and talk to some people who are honest about what they own.

That's a bunch of crap. This forum is like any newsgroup or message board dealing with a certain topic. There will always be a small percentage of people with problems asking for help, meanwhile the overwhelming majority of people without problems don't bother to post. I've had zero problems with my Polaris, but until now I didn't feel the need to enlighten everyone with that fact.

The ultimate quad is the Honda 300 4x4. It isn't the best mudder, it isn't the best riding, but it is tougher than a bag of hammers, it's versatile, and if riden right, you can keep up with the "big boys" (for the most part).

How can u be the ultimate quad with out being great in mud, or as you said, not even the best ride???? My Xplorer400 is great in the mud and has a great ride. It is near the top in the ultimate quad competition!
