Default Predator oil filter

Hello ALL
Just want to make sure, does the soft rubber on the oil filter go to the engine. Or face the cover plate.
Thanks this is a great machine.

Predator service manual, page 2.18 step 15 Lubricate the gasket on the new filter with a film of fresh engine oil. Step16 Reinstall the spring and install the new filter with the open end facing outward. Touche'. I gave you step 15 just for good measure. Oh yea, torque bolts to 72-78 in/lbs, longer bolt goes in forward hole. Happy Trails!

If you try and put it in backwards the spring hits the "O" ring - So its spring first, then filter with "O" ring facing out, then screw on the cover. Ken, did you find titatanium screws for those? Oh, BTW this is my first post since getting my PRED. Have been too busy riding it!! LOL..Got it with the w/b pipe and just opened it up yesterday after breaking it in for 2 days. Man that thing flies! I just smoke my buddies honda 400ex. My other friend with cannibal 440 runs closer but still have him by 3-4 bike lengths at 300 yards. Man it feels like it has a turbo that comes on at high RPM. And the handeling - just superb!
Man I'm excited again - gotta go ride some more!!

Jeff

I've been filling out an order form all week long. The front suspension is all titanium hardwared. The nerfs and foot-guards. The next area is the 3 long motor mount bolts, and the wheel studs. Never enough of the worlds perfect metal.
