Default High Performance Quad

Hi,

I posted a similar topic in the yamaha site. I am in the process of purchasing a new quad. I have previously owned two yamaha banshees, a 97 and a 00. I am considering one of the following models, a raptor, predator, another banshee, or a z/kfx. I will most likely be buying the quad new and wanted some unbiased input. Like I said above I am experienced with quads and loved the banshees when I had them. However, with the new quads in the market, I think that it may no longer be the best choice for me. I primarily ride trails with some really fast sections, and enjoy screwing around on some jumps and whoop sections. I was wondering how these quads compare as far as suspension, handling, and the overall fun factor. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I really like the looks of the predator, and seriously would give it some consideration, but am a little apprehensive of the reliability of it considering I also owned a 96 trail boss which pretty much blew up and ended up costing way too much money to be repaired.

Well, I really like my Pred. havent had any problems (knock on wood)...except for allowing stupid people to ride it...

I have read about a few problems, but then seem to be few and far between. If you can, find some people in your area that have the quads your interested in, and see if you can check em out.

Right now, out of your list, my top choices would be the Pred. of course, then the Raptor, then Banshee, and I wouldnt even consider a z/kfx...I would rather ride a donkey

I would say Pred, then the Raptor or a Banshee...toss up. But the new four strokes are pretty low maintainence. As for the donkey thats a lot of upkeep...u have to feed it hay and stuff and they really leave your yard a mess.

Take some time and go sit on them all. See which one fits you the best. There's lot's of great choices out there now. Of course most of us here are gonna be Predator biased, and that's because we've had good luck with the machine. Lot of stock features for the money.

I agree with Modquad, there is a seat for every a$$. I have gotten some time on a piped predator and it's a wild ride, but I feel like I'm riding a superbike with the way it sits. Of course I'm 6'2" 230lbs. Watching all the bikes racing each other, they all look pretty close. I'd look at what is offered in the aftermarket too. The Predator is slowly getting some good aftermarket parts, the Raptor has tons and the Banshee, you could almost buy stuff for at a 7-11.
