Default Am I in trouble? (predator)

Damn it,
I just opened up my airbox today for the first time - I know I should have sooner. Got it from dealer about 2 weeks ago and have been riding it alot in sand/dirt dry stuff. When I pulled out the air filter cover the lid fell right off the carb inlet tube - it was never tightened!! There was dirt inside this tube leading directly to the carb. Apparently the dealer never tightened this piece and now I have dirt in my engine. What should I do now? Is my engine jacked?

Probably don't touch a thing, and run it to your dealer. Stay calm though. Always a great idea to go over your machine. I don't mean to be kicking dirt here, just a friendly suggestion. Hope it all works out.

First, how many hours on the quad?? I would take it by the dealer to have a look at. Like modquad said stay cool. Even if they do not take responsibility stay cool. It is not worth the effort to get jacked up. If they do nothing, go home and take the tube off the carb and clean it and look in the carb for dirt. Clean if nessary and change the oil. Put back together and go ride and have a good time. Unless it is burning oil forget it at this point. Sooner or later you will have to put rings in it anyway. It sucks but there is no need to be pissed off. You probably did not do a lot of damage from dust.

From what I remembered polaris has a standard 6 month warranty on new machines any ways. So regardless of who takes the blame they will fix it.

I have about 10 hours on this quad - told dealer about it they said prob no problem but if i have any trouble they will take care of it - they said change oil and clean the pipe the best I can. Changed the oil and it looks pretty dirty. Rode it a little bit right before I changed oil and its still running awesome (man I love this quad) So hopefully I will be ok and if not the dealer sounds like he will take care of me - they took responsibility and apologized. Thanks for the advise and concern guys!

did they pick up the cost of the oil change?
I would change it atleast twice.
A good dealer would pick up the oil change for you having to go through the trouble.

The dealer should have changed the oil and made sure everything was alright. Now if there is a problem, you did it. The dealer can say anything later. The dealer is just an in-between between you and the manufacturer. The manufacturer is the judge and jury. What proof do you have that the dealer was the one to leave it untightened? I would have taken a pic of the untightened item and the dirty oil. Also the dealer should have changed the oil. Then you would have it documented that you had a problem. Beause you changed the oil all you have is a - "Sorry". Good luck and I hope you don't have anymore problems. Remember! C Y A ! COVER YOUR @55 !
