Heapsters New Predator Jetting - Awesome!
#1
Why didn’t I change my jetting and get my K&N installed SOONER!!!
All the paranoid CV carb issues and “I’ll bugger it up unless I spend $50 or $99” on an special carb jet kit worries………..BAH!
Egads and wow wow wow. It’s a whole new ride and powerband range now.
New jetting specs for Heapsters Preddy.
Spent a whole $3 on a 162.5 main jet, I raised the stock needle one groove.
Using a Carb mounted K&N airfilter ($40) with Outwears ($15)
No snorkel, and now I can carry cold iced down beverages in the stock air box. <grins>
Running 14/38 gearing.
OH MY GAWD. It now Lofts the front end in 3rd gear at will, that is if you can get traction on dirt.
Now Rear Wheel Steering is soooo easy, slide-ways baby!. You get up to scary speeds real real quick.
Not a carb pop or hesitation at all.
Loving it, and I’m going out Waptor Hunting at the Florence dunes next week.
He heh heh.

Wa Hoo Dave!!
I'm glad to hear you took the plunge and used the simple, old hot rod, common sense method to gain some performance. I'm sure happy with my set up, although I needed a larger main jet with the hotter weather down here in the desert. I can't wait to try the new CDI box from Vortex, to add more power and flexibility.
Keep me posted on your weekend results..and please be careful and don't repeat your Banshee event!
Take Care,
JJ

I envision this twister, dust cloud spooling up on the horizon. (TAZ) Life is good, crack the throttle!

MOOORE POWER! For only $6500 you can get a zero time Russian engine from some fighter trainers I used to work on. Thing is, they consume around 150 gallons/hr. DOH!!

Hey Heapster,
Have you ever tried running against a predator with an airforce kit with your new setup with clamp on filter. I'm trying to choose betwean the 2.
Thanks,
Jeff

Correct my earlier posting on a 162.5 main...........up'd it to a 170 main, and it even runs sweeter.
162 was a little lean, 170 is where its at...........better low end transition and pulles even harder with the needle raised and the clamp on K&N
oh oh, spent another whole $3 on my magic "jet kit"
every quad needs its own tuning!
dial yours in too!

Hi Dave,
I figured you end up having to up it a bit to a least close to a 170...Try an additional $3.00 and go to a MIkuni #50 pilot jet, and it'll respond even better. Less "off throttle" issues....
Glad you are as happy as me with this setup. I think my "Magic Jet Kit" works as well as anyone's... and it only cost me about $100.00 total with the filter, outerwear cover, and D/J jet kit. I really think the taper on the D/J needle makes a huge difference in performance. Plus, I get a solid 450 cfm air flow capability, very easy maintenance, and "No Chance" of bolts or nuts going into the intake!!!!
Time will tell...I only hope now I have no tranny problems, as several of those issues have recently come up...
