What are your thoughts on the Fuji engine?

Does Fuji still make the 03 Trail Boss 330 engine? I was wondering because I haven't heard much good about Fuji. I know some of the other Polaris engines are US made. If it is still Fuji, what are your thoughts? Thank you

A coworker of mine HAD a 325 trailboss. I looked all over that motor and couldn't find the word FUJI, or made in Japan anywhere on it. I did see something about Milwaulke (SP?, I think) though.
I hope someone with more insight will reply, just stating what I saw.

Most of the engines except the twins are made by either Fuji or Robin (both owned by the same company). My 400 Xplorer says 'Robin' on it, the 425/500 engines are made by Fuji. Not sure on the 330.

Well, I am pretty sure the Fujis are made in Japan. However, my Xplorer says 'ROBIN USA' on the side case, and 'JAPAN' on the oil injector pump, and carbureter. Take it for what it is worth.

Fuji is made in Japan
Robyn is made in the USA
And both are owned by DW Suzuki
What have you heard that is not good about Fuji? All Polaris engines have been made by Fuji in one form or another. All engines from 83 - 95 were manufactured by Fuji in Japan. Starting in 96 the 400L engines were made by Robyn here in the US and Robyn is the US manufacturing facility of Fuji, both which are a division of Suzuki Motors. All the Polaris engines are contracted exclusively by Polaris and are not found in any other machines. Whether they are engineered by Polaris or Suzuki or both I have no idea. With the number of Polaris ATV out there and the popularity they have achieved, I would say the Fuji or Robyn engines are rather reliable.
Far too many of you guys get in a hurry to buy an ATV so you end up with a lesser machine than what you really want, then you try to hop it up to keep up with the big boys. If you buy a 300cc class machine then ride in the 300cc group and don't complain that you can't keep up with the 400Ls or the 500s, 600s or 700s. DUH! It is a no brainer. If you want to run with the big boys, save up your money for a couple of more weeks and by a big boy machine. You don't buy a bobcat to move a mountain. But then you don't buy a D10 to push snow off your sidewalk.
If you try to make 250s and 300s run with the big guys you are going to blow em or burn em up.
Use your 330 the way Polaris intended it to be used and you can ride up and done the lane or around and around in the back yard for about 30,000 miles. Want to climb mountains and run mud bogs buy a grown up machine.
Don't mean to be throwing water on your campfire.
Probably the only way you can get a new 330 is by buying all the peices and putting them together, or looking for a low milage wreck.
I have been accused of being full of philosofical BS.

Paulywally, I started this topic by just asking where the Fuji is made? I do own an 03 boss and I heard the engines are hard to work on - no hurry in this purchace. I know what class I ride in. Thanks for the info.

I would assume they are still the "fuji" engines made in Japan. On my 01 Boss, there is a sticker on the pull starter cover facing the rear of the machine. It has a bucnh of specs on it, displacement etc.. then on the very last line says manufactured by Fuji LTD or something to that extent.

Robin America
I know my 400 was made in the USA and just because the carb or starter say Japan, that does not mean the engine was manufactured there. I know for a fact that my engine was made right here in Wisconsin.
