What are your thoughts on the Fuji engine?
#11
Look, I admit I should have been clearer here. Look again at what I said "I haven't heard much good about Fuji". I DID NOT say I heard lots of bad things about Fuji. I did say however, "that I heard the engines are hard to work on". I just bought an 03 Trail Boss and am very happy with it. I did alot of comps. with the competition - such as Yamaha and Honda - well before the purchase, and much good was said about their engines. I didn't here the GOOD or BAD about the Polaris Fuji - I'm not talking about the PVT or suspension etc. here, just the engine. I do apreciate your thoughts both pro amd con as I would like to sell the Fuji engine as easy as I can the rest of the Polaris machine. I will say that in my circle the USA made engine gets the nod - I don't think I can say that about Fuji?

About being hard to work on, I don't know. My Xplorer has one of the simpler engines ever put into an ATV. I think the 400s are mostly USA made by Robin. Small stuff such as the oil injector pump & carb are imported.
As for the Fuji 4-cycle engines, I think they are imported. However, except for some bad cams on the 500 engines, they seem to be built as good as anything as far as reliability goes. I have seen Sportsmans with 15,000+ miles and the engines have never been touched. The old 325, which is what the 330 is based on, was as reliable as anything out there, I can't recall any complaints about breakdowns. Their main fault was Polaris put an underpowered engine in a full-size chassis, making them s-l-o-w.

from a 2 stroke standpoint i can say that fuji's engines are really good motor,i have the fuji triple in the sled wich is the smoothest triple
ever built, they're powerful, and reliability is not a problem so far,
the 2 stroke 400 isn't really a high performance engine, but fuji engineering make it a lot stronger, they're the best.
