this is maddogs other half, I have a 2002 scrambler 400 2x4 and I was trying to get used to my machine and could not find any fuses? if you could give me a hand on this I would be happy thanks guys!

 

polaris's don't have fuses, just circuit breakers that separate if something is crossed and once they cool down they go back to normal, the circuit breaker is left of the battery, the positive wire is goeing into it, then comes out.

 

kblazk is right, no fuses anywhere. Everything is protected by automatic-resetting circuit breakers.
If the headlights blink about every 15 seconds, and things just don't seem to be working right, chances are you have a shorted wire somewhere, and that is the breaker cycling.

Well, I don't know of any proper substitute for the Polaris gearcase oil. It has special additives in it to prolong the life of the link-plate chain in there. I don't know offhand of anything that is a direct replacement. Some people have tried motor oil, but the chain wears prematurely.

As for the injector oil, use either the Polaris Gold synthetic, or another good quality synthetic injector oil. The few extra bucks the synthetic stuff costs is worth it, in my opinion. I have 4500 miles on my spark plug (not a typo) running the Polaris Gold synthetic.

For chain lube, the best stuff seems to be the 'non greasy' stuff, whatever brand you prefer. The sticky, greasy stuff seems to attract dirt. If you have an implement dealer nearby, the best stuff I have found for the money is AgCo chain lube. Costs under $5 a can, doesn't attract dirt much, and extends chain life as much as anything. The Case stuff is OK, too. John Deere lube attracts too much grit. (can you tell I live near a farming community). Anyway, lubing the chain OFTEN, using the AgCo or Case lube, I have gotten 7400 miles out of my chain. Trust me when I say it was completely worn out, though.

i had a 98' trail boss 250 two stroke with probalby 4000 miles on it and when it was sold it still had the original plug. I ran the regular polaris 2-stroke mineral based oil no problems.

 

i have got a new polaris and my battery fell out and has been acting funy-my lights will flicker and when i get enought time to sheck my voltage before the accesorys turn off it says 18. something. i think its the breakers-where are those located?

 

by the way it is a 2003 sportsman 500

 

o ya and it will not turn over and the only things that work are my lights i have running straight from the battery

 

Remove the seat, and follow the wiring from the battery. The breakers are sealed in little waterproof 'pouches' sealed in the wiring.
What you describe could be a short in the battery as much as a bad breaker. Possibly could have been damaged when it fell out???
