Is it really worth the extra money to get the 400 rather than the 250? Is it much faster than the 250? Also is it hard to mantain?

 

i don't think the extra $1500 is worth it for 150cc more, the 250 is lighter and you could have more fun on it, plus its been around for ever and has a ton of mods. The 250 motor is from day one of polaris atv's so another reason to go with that

 

Yo man if want speed get the 400!!!! The 250 has no chance against a 400 with hp and speed. You would have to mod the hell out of it to get it to keep up with a scrammy in a drag. Stick a pipe on the scrammy and good bye modded 250[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

oh yea if you like wheelies then the 400 is the way to go endless amounts of wheelies on that a 400[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

HPD even says that the full modded 250 will only barely beat a stock unit till 50mph. The 250's can be a blast, but keep in mind just a pipe and clutch kit really wakes up the 400 and it is liquid cooled. Slower hot weather driving takes it's toll on the air cooled motors. That's what first made the switch for me a long time ago.

 

The 400 would be a better choice. For one, it has liquid cooling compared to the 250 which is air cooled. The 400 motor has been around for a long time. There are a lot more mods for it than there is for the 250. Just look at Bubba297 and Modquad. They both have very fast highly modded 400's (Bubba, sorry to see you let yours go. If I had the money I would have it sitting in my garage) . If you have the money, you can have HPD build you a 80+ horsepower powervalve motor. There is NO WAY you can get that amount of power out of a 250!

Yea you will never get the same power out of a 250 that you ever could with the big 400[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] My neighbor had the 250 about a year ago and he could not even come close to me in drag races. Smoked him from start to finish[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] He has a 500 4x4 now and still eats my dust[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] hehehehehe
