I'm gonna buy a new set of grips for my scrambler, anyone got any opinions one some soft, durable grips, the stock grips kill my hands even with gloves, I was thinking about renthals. Also getting the old grips off is not a problem I will just cut them, but getting the new ones on was a real pain in the butt on my last bike, anyone got any tips for easy installlation of new grips I don;t want to struggle for an hour inching the new ones on. I also am going to get some grip glue.

 

My scram came with Scott Comp II grips. I am going to be getting some renthal bars soon and will be getting those grips again. They are soft when soft is needed and firn when firm is needed. I really like them

 

I like my Scott grips, they are soft and easy on your hands. A hairdryer to heat up the grip and lots of grip glue will make installation alot easier. Make sure to clean the bar good also. Here is a link to the grips I have, really like them. The first ones....Rage

 

I just got off the phone with a buddy, he said to soak the grips in gas and they will slide on no problem, with no need for grip glue after gas, I don't see gas being very good forthe rubber, anyone got any opinions on this or tried it.

 

NC, those are the same grips that I got. They are really nice.

Suds, I dont see gas being very good on the rubber. I have heard that you can use hairspray to get them on, just work fast enough before it sets up.

 

I use Johar Rad grips, they are high density foam and are the most comfortable grips I've ever had, they only cost around $6.00 too! you put them on with hair spray, I have been running them over a year now on my two sportsman's and they are holding up great, give them a try you'll like them all my friends put them on their machine after trying mine.

 

Yeh I like em too there Bigbad, I tried hairspray on the last set of grips, and... didn't hold for crap. Get grip glue, it is cheap and well worth it. I don't think I would trust gas to the rubber either. BTW I have dark blue and black grips.

 

I have Pro Grips that I got off e-bay, but can be purchased from Rocky Mountain. I used an air compressor with a nozzle to blow the grips on. I didn't use any glue on the grips and they stay in place. I've heard you can use soat water.

 

I do the same thing as tb2000. Use an air gun and have someone hold thier hand over the other end of the bars. Just blow and push.LOL. Then have them hold the grip on firmly and do the other side. Like tb said once they have been in one place for a little bit they will stay there. You wont believe how easy it is.

 

Dang Bubba, sounds like you were having a baby there!!! Wheewww... I tried that no glue trick and as soon as the grips got wet, they slipped, so I don't know. I think grip glue just to be on the safe side. Heck it is only like .99 what you got to lose??
