Default Steering squeak?

Is it difficult to get at the strut top point where the squeek may be or just remove the nut at the top. Seems like it may be uner quite alot of spring pressure.

Thanks jmrpage. I did that and voila the machine is now squeek free. Had tried to spray over it but guess did not get past boot. Sounds quiet again.

hello up

your welcome i work on cars with air noises and squeeks for a living it is a real pain in the rear , but i have gotten real good at pin pointing noises . one of the worst ones is the pull starter recoil on the 500 engines make a ton of noise . ride hard and smart

Jmr, Do you mean the rattle that sounds like a loose exhaust shield? Will not do it in N where you have the machine still but get going and it does? Have been trying to locate that too, but the squeek was a higher priority.

01 and up sportsmans don't have the lower grease fitting on the steering stem. Pre-01 models used a bushing at the bottom; therefore the grease fitting. 01 and up utilize a bearing w/o a grease fitting.
