predator broken throtle
#1
I was at the walden dunes today to try out my new paddle tires. The first hill I went up the thumb throtle stem broke off!! I couldnt believe it - the stem broke right were in enters the small black box on the handle bars. Took it to the dealer and they replaced it but still a bumber - I drove 4 hours there and back and only got like 3 min of riding in before it broke. Anyone else have this problem? I looked at my 2 buddies quads a canondale and a suzuki 400 and they both have steel stems on the throtle - the polaris one is plastic.

I too have had that problem but mine was from falling 20 to 25ft and then hitting bumper first. I think my thumb took it off as I was leaving the machine.
Does that count?

Colopred, sorry about your bad luck. A little off topic but how was Walden? I'm dying to know. Any snow left and is the creek flowing>
BTW, check my site if you get a chance - lot's of Walden stuff there.

I think the billet throttle is around $129, and the cable is a few bucks more. I tried adapting the present cable to mine this last week. The throttle housing fits perfectly, but we're gonna do a change on the cable. Darrell's gonna take a look at it this week, and I'll post the results. I've ran the unit on the race-mod for a few years, smooth as silk. Best thing is it will operate a carb up to 44mm.....so, in keeping the door open for mods, that's a good thing.

Walden is doin good - alot of snow still on the real steep climbs tho. Me without my predator still had a good time tho riding my friends canondale 440 and my other friends suz 400. Funny thing happened - was riding on the back of my friends canondale and we hit some snow - leaned back and got almost all the way thru - then hit some snow about 4ft deep and both flew over the bars into the snow - no harm to us or the quad so we laughed like hell - wish we got it on tape. The race hill is snow free but the really steep climbs have snow on them and not even the high modded banchees were trying them. I will be back out there with a big gang of friends with banchees, raptors, hondas, and me with my new pred with a new billet thumb throtle my friend with a cnc shop is making me. Maybe see u there!!
