Being a new atv rider I was worried taking my stock tires on my 2008 Sportsman 800 in the mud. All my buddies have aftermarket tires. I made it through every mud hole they did. ( and got stuck in the same holes they did too ). Plus when i am passing them on gravel roads at 73mph the stock radials ride nice. But would you expect anything less from a polaris??

i have a 1986 suzuki lt230s and the stock tires are still on them. worn all the way down to literally nothing but i love to slide around

 

still running stock dunlop tires. they suck why to soft only 2 ply why would they put that on a bike. what a wast of time. kendra bearclaws up next

Its a cost saving measure,that some manufacturers put wimpy 2 plys on a Utility ATV.

Best way to tell is either the ply amount is printed on the tire itself or they use the star emblems on the tire's side wall.

1 star=2 ply
2 stars=4 ply
3 stars=6ply

 

I'm still running the stock Goodyears on the 1998 250, but yeah, they are getting low on tread. It's one helluva donut machine. I gotta get some vids of it up, it can seriously just spin and slide all day long. Suprisingly, they still will go wherever I want them to. Of course, not in some mud bog 4x4 territory, but you know what I mean.

 

i kept my stock tires on my 03 kfx 400 and my 07 trx 450er. i loved them on both bikes. i did everything everyone else could do. my friends had razors, holeshots, sand sharks, didnt make a difference when climbing trails mud or anything else.

 

Running stock but the stockers on poo are better than many after market ones. I see some of the new machines sitting on the floor with less than I have on mine after 1300 miles.

 

Edit: Oops. I just said the same thing I already did about my 2 friends new tires looking 2/3 bald brand new. "My original Goodyear Tracker Ps from 1997 with over 4,000 miles on them still had a lot more tread on them than my best friend's Grizzly 660 the day he bought it." Actually two of my friends bought them at the same time but I didn't see the other one for awhile. IMO they didn't get very much tire for the money spent on their ATVs.

i still have the stock carlile at489's on my 08 sportsman 500. I would have rather had the pxt tires offered in the bigger polaris machines(i think) but the tread on the 489's is alot better/more aggressive than my buddies 07 rincon and my other buddies 08 cat 700. The tires on the rincon were absolutely worthless, the cats tires were a little better but not like my carliles. I will run these tires bald then upgrade to a mud/snow tire with an aggressive tread.
