I am having a problem with this machine that is driving me nuts. It starts, but has not power when I squirt the gas. Thought it might be the carb, took that off, cleaned and rebuilt it. Decided it might be the timing, connected the timing light to check that and the timing light is intermittent at idle and no light when bringing the rpm's up. Thinking it is an electrical issue, any advice where I should start?

Item#27.

 

Thanks for the quick reply, I have the manual. Didn't know if you ran into this issue in the past and could point me in the right direction.

 

Don't want to say ecm but they did have their share of problems. Go through the ignition checks first such as pulling the black wire from the cdi to eliminate the ignition switch and left control switch. That's the first check on the trouble shooting guide.Then follow the guide on down. Also resistance checks on the pick up coil and stator. If these check out,I'd be leaning toward an ecm module,but make sure as it's a high dollar item.
