Default 03 Honda rancher

hey everyone, I have seen posts before on this but doesn’t fit my problem hopefully you can help. Here goes.
i have an 03 Honda rancher 350 ES. It shows 3 dashes on my display (- - -) it was stuck in 3rd it said before I had to take the motor apart to put in a neutral position switch/sensor. I’ve changed that sensor and new battery. Also I can’t access the codes menu at all. Please help! Thanks in advance
