The last two numbers in the VIN have been changed, so is unreadable as identification but the model and year etc, should be OK to read. I get 4XABA25C6126414** which Cyclepedia has down as a 2001 Polaris ACE. Seems weird to change just the last two digits. Wonder if the factory stamped two machines with the same serial number by mistake, so overstamped one of them with the next available number once they realised. They made a right bog of it if this is what happened.

Tenth digit is a 1 for 2001, they only used single number dates for the millennium years, they are back to using a letter date code now. Those last two digits are zero zero, it is a lot clearer on the first of yesterday's pics, so 4XABA25C612641400. I wasn't expecting them to use 0 with line through for zero. You are lucky you don't have a Yam, they become unreadable after about 4 years, due to rust.

The DMV wants it to be traced. Do you have any ideas on how I can do that using paper pencil isn’t working

Sorry UK and US vehicle legal systems are totally different. Sure they don't mean traced back to previous owners?
