Predator or Z400?
I guess I agree with everyone else the shock upgrade for the z you'll need are expensive. If you were 70/30 the other way I'd definitly get the z it's the better overall quad for everything day to day use. My frame hasn't cracked yet and I'm keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't. I know it's expensive, really expensive, but I'd get a cannondale if their one available.

Predator or Z400?
I'll sing the same song as everyone else. I have ridden both on the trails, and around a MX style track that we have set up. The predator is a better MX quad, and since that is what you will be doing the most with it, the choice is clear.
As far as which one is better as a Trail Quad, I think the Z/KFX is the better choice. The Predator is a little soft on the low end torque. That coupled with the weight of it, causes you to have to run around in first gear 90% of the time and you have to keep the rpm's wound up. The only other down side to it is the seat is not the most comfortable on the market and no reverse, which when riding trails comes in handy. Don't get me wrong, it is a H*ll of a Quad, and has a powerband hit that comes on like crazy once you get it wound up. I just think that on lower speed technical trail rides, that it is out of it's element and the light and nimble Z/KFX is more at home. I personally prefer my KFX700 for Trails, because of the Torque, and the extra ground clearance due to the Shaft Drive, but that's another topic.
