Mod my Warrior or buy a Z-400?
I'm on the same boat. I love my Warrior and for me it is an excelent woods bike. BUT, if I were buying new AND the frame problems were fixed for 04. The Z would get my money.
My son-in-law has the Z. It rides great. BUT, it already has stress cracks and he does not beat it up.

I had a Warrior and liked it alot, and cant really complain too much about it and what it was. Mine was very dependable and was a great trail machine, an "OK" duner, and a go anywhere type of bike that you could get respectable speed on. But I rode other bikes and the story changes a little.....The handling is what steers me away from getting another Warrior, though. The handling doesnt totally suck, but compared to other bikes out there, there is no comparison as it pretty much loses this area of the comparison contest. Ultimitely, it's your call; the warrior is still a good bike - but if you are tired of it and want to spend thousands making it what you want, then go for it. But, if I were you and were faced with this dilema, the KFX/Z400 would be near the top of the list.
Another possible option to consider, if you can live without reverse, no matter what anybody says about them - you cant go too wrong with a 400ex. Sure Honda can do better than this (they will soon) - it's still a good bike. I just threw that out there for consideration. I would think about getting a Z first, though.

Depending on how long you are willing to wait, rumer has it Suzuki is coming out with a 2004 & 1/2 Z450. And on the frame problem, I bought my z in May this year and ride the hell out of it, only problems I've had are bent handlebars and bent axle from landing hard. Hard to say what'll happen on the first hard wreck. Hope I didn't just jynx myself. On a different note, my buddy has an 03warrior loves it, hates my z, go fig.

if money is not an issue, go with the z or even better the yfz450. i used to ride a warrior, nice bike but got a 400ex in 2000. if your looking for reliability and a bike that is going to really handle well in the woods...400ex is the answer. who needs reverse?
