Best Quad for me Please Help
#1
Hello, I am a little new to the sport bike seen. As you see in my Sig. Here is my question I want to get a sport quad to ride and jump and do normal sport quad stuff. I am an experinced rider i have ridden for many years. I have ridden about 5 sport quads older ones..... None i would want to own. I am right at 6 foot 160 lbs...Love to get big air...and climb...whellie...and SPEED. I am asking if the raptor is too big for me or too high of center of grav for me to control in the air. What are the other options of bikes that are good and VERY DEPENDABLE!!!!!!!! Kepp in mind i love speed and good handeling but need a bike i can beat the ever living hell out of and tomarrow i know it will run as good as the day before.
I WOULD RIDE RED 400EX STYLE BUT I NEED REVERSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Help Thanks

Well.. if you definately want reverse, that leaves out a few good sport quads. the Raptor is a good quad, its expensive but pretty quick and a good jumper. have you checked out the Kfx and Lt-z 400's by kawasaki and Suzuki. there like a 400 ex but much better in every category, they have reverse, and cost the same as the EX. oh and there is a new artic cat out, its the "DVX-400". its the same frame and engine as the z-400, but it has cooler plastics and an awesome graphics kit. plus it is available in more colors than any other quad i know of. just look around and go to a few dealers and check some quads out up close, thats the best way to find what you really want.
good luck.
good luck.

thanks for the help. Another question I am more into speed and jumping. i have ridden a warrior before to slow for my taste. Lets says i was going to pick between the raptor and the KFX 400 what are the pros and cons of each bike including the price. Keep in mind that i will be buying slightly used bike. Andthe raptor will have to be 02 cause of 01 tranny taking a CRAP
And are there different verisons of the raptor I see on the o net some times 600 raptor and 660R raptor is there a difference.

RIDE RED!!! If you could get past the reverse thing i think the ex would be best. They only way 354 lbs dry so they're more than easy enough to turn around. I used to think I'd never buy anything without reverse but then realized it was just a luxery, seriously you DONT need it (even for tight trails, i ride in minnesota) and the ex's are ten times cheaper used than z/kfx/dvx. Plus, it's a proven fact that no one can beat Honda's RELIABILITY. They're light and best wheelie and jumping bike ever in my opinion. Dont get me wrong z's are nice but a lot more expensive. The only problem with the z's are easily bendable frames on em'. All Raptor's are 660's they're ***** to the wall fast, but the high center of gravity can throw you off in the air. Go out and test ride em and see what you like, but I think you might be able to get over the lack of reverse, every other ex owner has. I used to be really stubborn about the reverse issue until someone slapped me upside the head and let me ride without it. Anyways I'm just rambling, good luck.

I love Honda to death I want to ride RED so bad but. i have reverse on my 450 and think riding with out it would be a pain in the ***. I dont know i either want to go with the rappy or EX 400. I dont think i will have any problem handeling either bike in air or on ground i rode a 300EX of my buddies yesterday and i was wipping that things a## all over the trails. What if i did all "Bolt on Stuff" to the honda no internal engine work would i be able to keep up with the rappy race wise. Also How big is the price difference. 02 raptor cause tranny.... And what was the best year of 400EX if the are any different.

as for the 400ex, if you like Standard single-cam, "AIR COOLED" and underpowered four strokes with "No Reverse", than you could probly find a used one for cheap, but there not very competative compared to the others.

well if you do get over the reverse thing go with ex,if you need reverse go with the raptor if you want more speed and power and go with the kfx/z/dvx if you want handling they both wheelie the same.

Ok lets assume for a little while that i am over the reverse thing. And i have 4500 dollors to get a bike or a bike and some goodies. what about getting a 02 EX with some goodies to help power. mabye even a cam. I am just wondering if this would be a good buy. As you know i am new to the sport bike seen. And buy the way some people talk it seems that the 400EX might be outdated. What do you guys think.
