Default 440 big bore question?

Once I get my 400 I want to get a 440 big bore for. I’m only 15 and I would buy the thing off of rockymountainatv.com I was wondering if it's pretty simple to install of if I need to weld or drill ect. So if anyone could help me out all I want to know is if I could do it myself and if the kit comes with everything

p.s. please only people who can actually tell me from experience

Default 440 big bore question?

i have a 400 Sport and i have bored it out once but blew it up, so i am back at .20 over. a big bore kit should come with everything necessary to put it in yourself. The actual cylinder that you have will need to be "bored". This means that you will most likely have to take it to your dealer or a machinist to get it bored. after it is bored then you can clean it up and assemble the top end of the motor. This is something that you need to take a lot of time doing and make sure everything is clean. If it were mine and i was going to big bore the quad, i would go through HPD and purchase the whole big bore kit which includes everything from the piston to a pipe. expensive but well worth it. http://www.hpd-inc.com well this is all that i know to tell you as of now so good luck and ask if u need more help or have any more questons.

A 440 kit comes with a new sleeve that needs to be installed into your cylinder. The stock one cannot be bored out to that size. Figure 150-200 bucks for sleeve installation on top of your other parts expenses.

If you have access to a machine shop and some dry ice or something similar (to install the sleeve) then yes, you could do it yourself, otherwise, someone else will have to do it for you, I would not recomend someone withought a good deal of experience do it themselve either, and bradracer, we are talking about the honda 400ex, not the polaris 400 sport
