C'mon now, quads are the next best thing to snowmobiles(and 4x4s) during the winter, you can't just lock her up for the winter, thats just mean! If you have to though, do everything Chetracer said, and I usually keep my battery charged by going out and starting it at least once a week to keep her charged. Its not that big of a deal to me if my battery goes dead, mines got pullstart!!! Nice to have a backup that starts on the first pull!

Sta-bil and a battery tender, both work well Check your tire pressure before each ride. If it's goiing to sit through winter dump the oil and put in fresh before the first ride.

I usually start the quad up and run it for a little while, let it warm up. I do that about once every 2 weeks. My stepdad and my mom dont use theirs much, so i go take care of their quads for them. The battery was left connected on both of them, and of course they died. i was under the impression that if the bike was going to sit for an extended period of time that the battery should be disconnected. any input on this?

I think that's okay maddog, as long as you allow the bike to get up to full operating temp to burn off the condensation. The batts are better off either on a trickle charge or removed and brought outta the cold when not in use for extended periods. They won't last as long if they are constantly exposed to huge drains and short recharges, plus they don't seem to recharge much at all when the bike is at idle. They need to be run to get a full charge, in my experience.

Use Stabil (as mentioned before) or drain the fuel completely. At least shut off the fuel valve and then drain the fuel bowl. Also the battery tender works great.... keeps the battery fully charged and it will be ready to go the next time you get back to your bike.
