out with 2 strokes??????????

I personally think it's a sad thing to see our freedom of choice being taken away in the name of environmental sainthood.... all to chase after 0.0001% of pollution that most often occurs in unpopulated areas, having virtually no effect on real air quality.
think about this when you vote.
long live the 2-stroke!

They can't just stop production like that. They have to slowly phaze it out. Anyone remember BetaMax tapes? They didn't just stop all at once, they slowly faded it out. Anyways, it's going to suck if something happens to my 2-stroke machines after 2006 (my sleds) because they are even outlawing the manufactring of parts for 2-strokes

I dont think they can stop companys from making parts for them, and there not just going to say stop making them. They are going to put on more rules for 2-strokes so it will be harder for companys to make them.

Motorcycle manufacture Aprilia have been working on a fuel injected two stroke motor that would cut the
amount of hydrocarbons released.
Its a complicated proccess though the last i read about it was around a year ago So i not sure how it went.
If they can make it work at reasonalbe cost two strokes might live on into the future.

If evinrude can make a 2stroke that California legal, then theres no reason motorcycle manufacturers can't.The EPA will make tighter restrictions, but no one knows if it will affect all models.Regardless, closed course 2strokes will still be around long after 2006,but they won't be eligible for state registration.
You 4stroke guys think you got it made,Well guess again, the new emission laws that are supposed to go into effect in 2006 will also include 4strokes.They will also be required to meet certain emission standards. You might just see some type of catalytic converter on new bikes and quads.Alot of street bikes already have them and 4strokes have always been subjected to tighter emission laws than 2strokes.
