same here i won't sell mine until the 4 strokes can be as fast as a 2 stroke which won't so i will keep mine until they stop making parts for it and those 450 are nothing compared to a 250r they need a 450 just to keep up to a 250 just think if you were aloud to race a 250r in the pro class with a ct racing 340 powervalve motor they would smoke those 450 even easier

The last couple of times I was at Pismo I seen a YFZ (this was back in the summer so I would hazard a guess it was probably close to stock) beating up on anything at the flats. Raptors, Banshees, you name it. Even your beloved 250r. They'd get the holeshot on him (or her) but he'd reel them in and fly by em. I was mighty impressed.
A 340 2-stroke would probably be equal to about a 598+ 4-stroke.
If a 340 2-stroke didn't beat a 440-450 4-stroke there's something wrong...either crappy rider or the motor isn't tuned worth a damn.

Give the new 450 motors some time and they will catch up. Afterall, they are relatively new to the market. 250Rs have been around how many years? I'm thinking like 18 right? The 450 quads aren't even toddlers yet, compared to the 250Rs that could vote.
When Ford killed off the 302 in the Mustangs and went to the 4.6 modular motor people were bitching. But they all learned to work with the new motor. Progress is something to look forward to. It gives us challenges. Look back to the muscle cars of the late 60s. Now look at equivelent cars, making damn near the same power, but are performing so much better. And they are doing it using less fuel and burning much more cleaner. Look at the latest Vettes...be gentle with the accelerator and you can hit something like 36MPG. Hell, my little Daewoo might hit 30MPG if I'm lucky.

What is the diff between the 302 and the 4.6? Is that 4.6L?

Dont be fooled by the classic "emissions" scam. the real reason behind it, is that the banning of 2-strokes is an easy and quick way for those annoying LIBERALS to get exactly what they want. they want ALL atvs banned eventually. and what usually (always) happens when liberals demand something? our wonderful government gives it right to them. look at ATC-3 wheelers. those where not banned because of "safety" reasons.... the tree-huggers didnt like them, so out they went. the "safety" administration was just an escape goat. so the banning of 2-strokes, is only the beginning of a Dominoe effect, and trust me, that wont be where it stops. i know its unfortinate that they want to take away something we all love doing, just because it may kill ONE tree a year per state.....BIG FRIGGIN DEAL* the production of PAPER in "ONE YEAR" takes away more tree's than atvs will in 50 years. but will they ban the production of paper and use modern computer technoligy instead?? heck no, they will yake away all of our fun first.

Todays cars are still nowhere near the musclecars of yesteryear.Nowdays they overrate sports cars power outputs because they don't even meet standards that they should, where as 30 years ago everything was underrated due to costly insurance rates.
Sometimes progress goes in the wrong direction and we as consumers have to suffer as a result.

The 4.6L is a 280 or 281, I've seen both on Ford's own website..
