K&N with Outerwears, FMF PowerBomb Header and Ti-4 Muffler. Really woke the engine up, particularly on the low end.

Take off the snorkel noise baffle, also the airbox lid if you're daring, and rejet (to a 140 or 145). ~$7 later you'll have way more** low and mid rpm torque.

If you feel the need to get a new filter, screw K&N's, they're way overpriced and let in dirt like you wouldn't believe. I've heard they're worse for letting sand in than foam filters, but that's just what I "heard". I've actually seen K&N's let dirt by.

K&N + adaptor is around $90
Aftermarket Foam filter is $20

Are slip ons worth it? not really.
Are full systems worth it? not really.
Are either of those more worth it if you get a stroker kit and/or cams? could be.
Pipes don't affect 4 strokes as much as they do with 2 strokes.

If you want best the setup for every dollar spent, check out my site http://atv.corpsie.com

If you want the absolute best set up regardless of money, then just go all out get a stroker kit, high compression piston, ignition system, full exhaust, aluminum radiator, edelbrock carburetor, cams, etc...

** keep in mind that I did this mod BEFORE altering my exhaust pipe, so I know what the effect is. Some people do all these mods at once and can't really target what mod had what effect.

It's not welded, it's just plastic snapped together.

Are you talking about the peashooter in the pipe end?

If so, you just need a 1 1/4" hole saw and cut it out. Your spark arrester will stay intact.

Doubt there is any power gain, but it sounds more throaty expecially at idle.

Yea I don't think its plastic from what I remember its 3 tac welds.I will know for sure when I get home and look again.
Yea you can just hack it off.Doesn't hurt a thing but is way louder.Noticable punch I thought when I did mine.I just took the guts out and left them out..
